fantasybuddha:

You may or may not realize this, but 2011 marks the tenth anniversary of the bright shining star that was the XFL.
My three favorite things from Vince McMahon’s one-and-done league were:
He Hate Me. Yes, there were haters long before the XFL allowed Rod Smart to wear it so eloquently on the back of his Las Vegas Outlaws jersey, but this snapshot allowed the term—along with spinoffs like haterade and hateration—to enter into mainstream vernacular.
Tommy Maddox. After the former UCLA gunslinger washed out as the error apparent to John Elway in Denver, his career was dead in the water. The XFL gave Maddox a platform to display his abilities once more and earn a second chance in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
New York/New Jersey Hitmen. Seriously? The Hitmen? Maybe I’ve seen way too many violent gangster flicks in my time, but that is one of the coolest team mascots ever.
